The program is designed to help people aged 45 and over build confidence, update their skills, and stand out in today’s job market.
Before the program began, Harri met with APM Area Manager Christine and shared his goals, challenges, and concerns.
He explained that he lacked knowledge in preparing resumes, writing cover letters, and approaching interviews.
He also felt like he needed support finding jobs suitable for someone who had limited employment history.
During the CTA course, the APM training facilitator worked closely with Harri, building rapport and providing tailored support.
He was given resources to assist with goal setting and approaching employers.
Harri worked on strengthening his resume, writing tailored cover letters, and preparing for interviews.
He received practical advice on how to promote his skills as a mature‑age candidate and guidance on finding roles that suited his experience.
With a forklift ticket and Medium Rigid licence already in hand, Harri identified labouring work as a great fit.
Using what he learned through the program, Harri submitted a job application for a labourer role with Fairfield Council.
He was thrilled to be invited to interview and spent time preparing with his CTA facilitator.
His dedication worked as he secured the role and was quick to share the good news with the APM team.
“Thank you once again for the wisdom you shared. I’m quite sure I wouldn’t have got the interview without your training,” Harri said.
Harri’s openness to learning, and persistence to rejoin the workforce after time away, was a major part of his success.
He joins the thousands of Australians who have overcome challenges of securing a good job with support from Career Transition Assistance.
