Courtney finds the expertise to help launch her own business

Courtney spent years working as a cleaner for Department of Education offices, building a reputation for reliability and excellence.

With a dream of becoming her own boss, she set her sights on launching a domestic house cleaning business.

But like many aspiring entrepreneurs, she faced a major hurdle - she needed a vehicle to get started, and traditional banks weren’t willing to back her vision.

Determined not to let this stop her, Courtney (pictured above on the left) reached out to APM Armadale for support through Self-Employment Assistance.

The program helps people turn business ideas into reality by offering guidance in planning, development, and long-term sustainability.

While Courtney had the skills and experience, she needed help navigating the financial and legal aspects of running a business.

That’s when APM consultant Ashley stepped in and connected Courtney with Debra from Many Rivers Foundation, a not-for-profit offering microfinance support.

Thanks to this partnership, Courtney secured the funding she needed to purchase a vehicle.

Courtney also gained valuable knowledge in business planning, financial management, marketing, and risk analysis through the program.

She learned how to identify her ideal customers, assess her strengths and weaknesses, and build a solid operational plan for the first two years of her business.

APM also helped expand her professional network by arranging a discounted membership with the Armadale Chamber of Commerce, giving her access to extended benefits and local business connections.

Since completing the program, Courtney’s business has flourished. She’s grown in confidence and resourcefulness, and her client base continues to expand.
