Roselyn's road back to employment

When Roselyn arrived at APM Innisfail, she was unsure of her next steps after two years without employment.

She wanted to return to work but had lost confidence in her abilities and hoped Workforce Australia could help her rebuild.

The APM team worked closely with Roselyn to understand her goals and create a clear pathway back to work.

Her employment consultant Hannah helped refresh her resume and search for suitable roles.

Before long, Roselyn secured a Retail Assistant position at Kmart Smithfield.

From day one, Roselyn was determined to succeed.

Despite facing a 1 hour and 45-minute commute each way, she never hesitated to take shifts and even accepted extra hours whenever possible.

The travel was exhausting at first, but APM made sure she felt supported by providing work-appropriate clothing, comfortable shoes, fuel vouchers, and assistance with car registration and windscreen repairs.

One year later, Roselyn is thriving.

She has maintained steady employment for over 12 months and is being considered for a permanent position.

Her confidence has grown, her communication skills have improved, and she has built strong relationships at work.

“Without the support of APM, I wouldn’t have been able to build the courage to leave the system and build the life I have always wanted,” Roselyn said.

Roselyn’s journey shows what’s possible with determination and the right support. She’s excited about her future and ready to keep moving forward.
