Samantha's new start in sales and marketing

Samantha is a proud First Nations woman with a background in banking and office work.

She had also run her own business, but money troubles made that hard to keep going.

For a while, she needed to focus on her health. This meant stepping back from work and rebuilding her confidence.

When she felt ready, Samantha turned to APM Employment Services for support through Workforce Australia.

Finding work again felt daunting and Samantha worried that her age and the gap in her work history might hold her back.

When she arrived at APM, employment consultant Sarwat, took the time to get to know Samantha and understand her challenges.

So Sarwat helped her prepare for the road ahead.

Helping Samantha apply for a police check, making a fresh resume and supporting with job applications.

Samantha also gained her Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate to open more doors in hospitality.

Meanwhile, by joining the Deadly Thinking Workshop, Samantha helped build her confidence and discovered ways to manage stress.

Step by step, Samantha felt stronger and more ready.

With Sarwat's support, Samantha applied for roles that matched her goals, landing a job as a Sales and Marketing Specialist with a company that sells juicers and blenders.

The role matched her passion for healthy living perfectly.

APM helped set up a wage subsidy to support her move into the role, by supporting her new employer’s wage costs as she settled in.

Samantha also received a clothing voucher, headphones for client calls and a fuel voucher for travel to work.

Since she began the new role, Samantha has taken on more responsibility, including talking directly with clients.

She says she feels more confident and happier than she has in a long time, and believes she has a bright future ahead in sales and marketing.

“APM provided a lot of support and encouragement, and despite feeling being mature age can be a barrier, helped me to see that anything is possible if you continue to believe in yourself,” she says.
