Zelko's smiling again with secure employment

When Zelko joined APM Employment Services for Workforce Australia support, he already had something many job seekers are still searching for.

A job opportunity.

The team at TrueBlue Traffic Management had seen potential in Zelko and were keen to bring him on board in a traffic control role.

But there was one significant challenge standing in the way.

Zelko was experiencing ongoing dental problems that caused constant pain and discomfort.

The pain affected his ability to eat properly, maintain his energy levels and cope with the physical demands of work.

Despite this, he remained determined to succeed.

Working with Employment Consultant Virg at APM Southport, Zelko focused on making the most of the opportunity in front of him.

He started work with TrueBlue Traffic Management on a casual basis and was determined to make a success of the opportunity.

Despite ongoing dental pain, Zelko wanted to keep working and was reluctant to ask for help.

Recognising the impact the issue was having on his health and ability to work, Virg suggested that APM could assist with treatment.

While Zelko initially wanted to manage the problem himself, regular conversations with Virg helped him understand that accepting support would make it easier to achieve his employment goals.

Once he agreed, APM worked with Zelko and his dentist to arrange the treatment he needed.

The process included a full tooth extraction and the fitting of dentures.

After recovering from the procedure, Zelko noticed a significant improvement in his health, comfort and confidence.

Most importantly, he was ready to focus fully on work.

With his treatment complete, Zelko moved into full-time employment with TrueBlue Traffic Management.

The change has been life changing.

He is thriving in his role, enjoying the routine and stability that comes with regular work and feeling optimistic about the future.

His progress continued beyond employment.

After successfully establishing himself in work, Zelko no longer required Centrelink assistance and exited Workforce Australia services.

Looking back on his journey, he is grateful for the support that helped him overcome a challenge that had been holding him back.

"You guys have been amazing,” he said.

By addressing a barrier that was affecting both his health and employment, Zelko was able to move forward with confidence and build a brighter future.
