Jacqueline’s drive for work leads to a rewarding new role

After being out of work since 2022, Jacqueline was eager yet anxious about re-entering the workforce.

Jacqueline faced multiple challenges, including mobility issues due to osteoarthritis, and anxiety and depression, which had rocked her confidence.

She needed a job that accommodated her health needs and allowed her to rebuild her confidence at a manageable pace.

When she came to APM Employment Services for support through the Disability Employment Services (DES) program, Jacqueline found the first step on her path back work with Rosa – her dedicated consultant.

"Rosa at APM listened to my concerns about my return to work, encouraged me to look forward, and found me a job I absolutely love"

Rosa made understanding Jacqueline’s goals and challenges the priority.

Recognising Jacqueline's skills and experience as a bus driver, Rosa was able to put a tailored plan together for Jacqueline to get back on the road to a good job.

After preparing Jacqueline for interviews and applying for work, Rosa discovered a suitable vacancy at Adelaide Transport.

She highlighted Jacqueline’s qualifications and need for accommodations to the employer, who was eager to provide a supportive work environment.

Jacqueline impressed the employer and successfully secured a role driving a small bus, which allowed her to ease back into a working routine.

She now transports children and elderly passengers to events and excursions, finding joy in her work again.

Although Jacqueline still experiences issues with her health condition, she has managed to balance her work and health, even taking on additional hours and traveling interstate as part of her role.

“Rosa at APM listened to my concerns about my return to work, encouraged me to look forward, and found me a job I absolutely love,” Jacqueline shared.

Today, Jacqueline has found a healthy balance between managing her work, health, and appointments, with ongoing support from Rosa and access to allied health services.
