Succeeding with support

Polly wasn’t sure she could successfully find employment.

With a strong desire to work in the hospitality industry, she applied for a hospitality course but was unfortunately unsuccessful.

She reached out to APM for support and she found a support network in the ParentsNext program and Strategix.

ParentsNext is an Australian government program delivered by APM in Queensland, South Australia and Victoria.

The program is aimed at supporting parents with young children to reach their employment goals while balancing their family commitments.

For Polly, it was getting her the learning and work experiences she needed to find a job to support her and her four children.

Excited to work

Polly’s parent and family pathway planner helped Polly get successfully enrolled in a Certificate III in Hospitality course through Strategix Training Group.

“ParentsNext opened the door for me and, you know, laid out a whole opportunity for me” Polly said.

“APM supported me during my course, they were like 100% on my side.”

Carole, business development officer for registered training organisation Strategix, describes their student-first approach.

“We interview our students, we find out what their passions, their desires are” Carole said.

Carole found a fantastic opportunity for Polly with local venue Cazaly’s, a local franchise of bar and gaming venues.

Polly’s employer, General Manager of Cazaly’s, Jason shared their enthusiasm for creating this opportunity.

“We are delighted to partner with APM and Strategix to provide a pathway to people that want to make change in their lives and promote themselves.”
