Myran’s resilience stronger than ever after working towards a new job

Myran first joined Disability Employment Services (DES) at APM Devonport, eager to work and with an interview already lined up.

However, a heart attack set him back physically and left him feeling depressed and uncertain about his future.

After recovering, Myran received dedicated support from his APM employment consultant, Rianon.

Recognising the need to rebuild Myran's confidence, Rianon referred him to psychological and motivational counselling.

This support helped Myran explore his employment goals and strengthen his mental health.

Additionally, Rianon assisted Myran in completing a traffic control training course through RTV Training, increasing his employment options.

Over the following months, Myran applied for various jobs.

And he was rewarded when he secured a casual role as a labourer.

Rianon worked closely with both Myran and his employer to ensure a smooth transition into the role.

Myran's hard work and determination have since paid off.

He recently signed a permanent full-time contract with his employer and is on track to reach a 52-week employment milestone.

Throughout this journey, Rianon has continued to provide regular post-placement support.

Expressing his gratitude, Myran said, "I’m very happy. Thanks for all your help too, Rianon – you’ve also helped me get here."

Myran's journey highlights the importance of resilience and the impact of dedicated support in overcoming obstacles and achieving employment goals.
