Where are they now?

Catching up with Disability Employment Services participants years after they found success with APM.

Patrick’s a proud new parent

We first met Patrick in 2019 when he shared his experience of adjusting to life with quadriplegia – no function or control of his body from his neck down - following a severe neck injury years earlier.

Despite the challenges of living with a permanent disability, Patrick was determined to find work and enjoy the benefits of employment.

He came to APM Employment Services to gain support in modifying his workplace after finding a role in technical and customer support.

The result was a modified workstation at his home and support to travel into the workplace when required.

Five years later Patrick has continued to thrive both in work and in life.

Currently employed as a network analyst, he advises mining companies on communication solutions and their private networks.

Still travelling to the office and working from home, Patrick said he is committed to progressing his career and may soon take on study options.

Even more exciting is the changes in Patrick’s family life.

Since sharing his story with APM, Patrick said he has enjoyed building a new family with his partner and her two step-children.

The couple welcomed a baby girl in 2022 and Patrick said the growing family had to buy a new family car to accommodate everyone.

We are absolutely delighted to see Patrick’s ongoing success and achievements since first meeting us through the Disability Employment Services program.

And we’re confident he’ll continue to enjoy further success.
